Summary of Research

Most of Sub-Saharan countries are facing water pollution from multiple industrial expansions. Upstream unsustainable land use practices aggravate the pollutions and the rugged topography also accelerates runoff flows and erosions processes in the particularly the tropical countries. Because of these problems, downstream water bodies are now alarmingly vulnerable and the city of Kombolcha (in Ethiopia) is typical in confronting these problems. With many old and new factories arround and the expansion of urban agricultures downstream,  It is now imperative to examine pollution status and impacts on downstream environments. My Ph.D. study is focused on exploring the spatio-temporal effects of selected pollutants and their impacts on downstream water ecology and supplies. This will help to develop industrial emission controlling measures and mitigation of encountered problems. .
