The purpose of the Special Account is to receive contributions from the countries concerned (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Syria) and sums allocated by the Organization to be used both for the payment of the salaries and expenses of the Commissioners-General, in accordance with Article 10 of the Regulations for the Execution of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and for Ensuring Action by UNESCO under Article 23 of this Convention.
