06-09-2006 (Kabul)
Afghanistan’s first copyright workshop was held in Kabul from 24 to 25 August with support form UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) and the Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU).
The workshop aimed to introduce basic concepts and raise awareness on copyright protection and the Media among Afghan stakeholders including journalists, broadcasters and government officials.
Copies of the ABU publication including frequently asked questions on copyright were distributed during the workshop. The book had been translated into Dari and Pashtu with support from UNESCO. ABU’s Legal Counsellor, Fernand Alberto, was also on hand during the workshop to lead discussions and answer questions.
The workshop was organized by National Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, and the Department of Plan and Foreign Relations.
