Library

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) Library collects books, periodicals and other material and makes these available to the public in order to support the work of researchers, scholars, students and policymakers. The collection contains works on the topics of lifelong learning, adult education, adult literacy and non-formal education. Its strength lies in its broad historical range, its international orientation and the wealth of specialized material (including grey literature) it offers. Documents and publications can be consulted through UNESDOC, UNESCO’s online catalogue.

The UIL Library offers eleven working spaces to researchers, scholars, fellows and interns, who benefit from the library’s resources and the daily assistance offered by the librarians.

The Library is open to the general public and can be used free of charge. A special focus is on serving the students and staff of the University of Hamburg.

The UIL Library compiles lifelong learning policies and strategies and makes them available online.

The Library also coordinates the ALADIN network and the CONFINTEA Scholarships.
