With the support of the UN Global Compact, a number of the SDG Advocates are calling on business to take concrete action towards helping the UN achieve the SDGs.
The press briefing will highlight how the Paris Climate Agreement has already begun to impact private sector operations and investments.
More than 500 global investors gathered at UN Headquarters to mobilize the trillions of dollars needed to move the world onto the path of clean energy, with Ban Ki-moon challenging them to, at a minimum, double clean energy investments to $660 billion by 2020.
"The investor community is of critical importance if we are to move from aspirations to action," Ban says.
Ceres and the UN Foundation convene some 500 financial leaders at the UN to scale clean energy opportunities and manage the fossil fuel risks from the low-carbon transition.
“I ask all the CEOs here today to help us. Your advocacy and example can drive action to achieve a life of dignity for all people,” Ban Ki-moon told business leaders at an event on the Global Compact in Davos, Switzerland.
The UN and the governments of France and Peru have launched a new website to demonstrate how momentum for climate action is building ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris (COP 21), at which governments will conclude a new universal climate agreement.
