Iwona Wagner

Biography

Prof. Iwona Wagner  has been a profesor assistant at the Department of Applied Ecology, the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Protection at the University of Lodz and is currently employed by the International Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences and the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology under the Auspices of UNESCO.

Originally from Poland, Prof. Iwona Wagner has earned her Bachelor Degree at the University of Lodz, the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, Department of Applied Ecology, where she also completed her doctoral studiem In 2002. Her expertise includes the ecohydrology, urban ecohydrology, global cli mate change effects on freshwater resources and resilience of cities, nutrients dynamics in catchment-river-reservoir system, learning alliance and multistakeholder platforms facilitation, projects management and implementation.

From 2005 to 2010, Ms. Wagner has also been the Deputy Director at the International Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences of the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO. Her work experiences include also acting as a Scientific Secretary of the UNESCO IHP-V 2.3/2.4 Project on Ecohydrology and UNESCO IHP-VI Programme on Ecohydrology (1996-2004), and as a member of Scientific Committee of the  Ecohydrology Prohramme In the years 2008-2010. She also was a member of the Task Force for Development of the Strategy for the IHP-VII of UNESCO from 2004 -2005. In 2003 she was a ocal point for cooperation for ERCE as a consultant for Ecohydrology and Phytotechnology Programmes, In the United Nations Environment Programme, International Environmental Technology Centre (UNEP-DTIE-IETC), Shiga, Japan.

She is an author of several scientific publications in international journals, co-editor of 6 international books, author of over 100 oral presentations at international conferences.
