The UIS database has been updated to include statistics on the feature film industry
The UIS Data Centre has been updated to include the results of the latest UIS survey on the global cinema industry for the year ending in 2013, including key indicators designed to help measure diversity in film production.
The provisional data cover about 100 countries and territories on film production, exhibition and distribution. They also include indicators relevant to cultural policy, such as diversity and digitization.
The new data can be used to identify the growing importance of developing countries in the cinema industry. In 2013, Asian countries, including China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea, accounted for almost 50% of global movie production (see map).
