This project aims at quantifying the speciation of metals dosed to anaerobic bioreactors, in particular UASB reactors using novel chemical speciation methods such as Donnan Membrane Technique (DMT) and Diffusive Gradient in Thin-films (DGT) for liquid media or sequential metal extraction technique for solid media. Metal speciation can be related with their bioavailability combining activity batch experiments or continuous reactor operation and different chemical speciation models.
