America-Indigena.Org to be Launched Today in Lima

America-Indigena.Org, a portal dedicated to indigenous peoples of the Americas, will be launched today in Peru's capital Lima. The portal that is supported by UNESCO and Alfa-Redi aims at fostering the identity of indigenous American communities promoting their cultural expressions and safeguarding their heritage.
Providing a space for dialogue on indigenous themes based on the principle of freedom of expression America-Indigena.Org is also intended to foster the participation of indigenous communities on public affairs.
America-Indigena.Org includes an information service on activities of indigenous communities, specially related to ICT aimed at facilitating networking of local, national and regional indigenous organizations. It is also a virtual meeting point for researchers and organizations working on indigenous themes and a digital museum promoting the preservation cultural traditions and artifacts.
