Why did you pick UNESCO-IHE for your studies?
UNESCO-IHE was unknown for me. There was a scholarship opportunity in The Netherlands and I did some research and discovered that UNESCO-IHE is an internationally recognized educational centre for water-related research.

So far what have been the highlights of your study?
The lack of knowledge and awareness are the source of many natural resources management problems. In addition, there is an increasing pressure over most of the resources, some with the involved processes still poorly understood. Water is not an exception and is very complex. It diverges into social, environmental and economic aspects, which have many times conflicting interests. Thus, is important to understand the context of the watershed to manage it. For this a lot of knowledge from different fields is required, as well capable people to integrate this knowledge.

How has the degree helped you with your career progression and do you know what you will be doing afterwards?
I think water is an issue with increasing interest of the whole society. This degree in Water Quality Management gives me the knowledge and capacity for integrate different knowledge fields, as a competent Water manager. My plans include return to Brazil and contribute to a better management our waters, especially in the estuarine and coastal zones.

What is it like to live in Delft. Do you like the atmosphere?
Life in Delft is a great experience. It is a beautiful city, filled with history; Holland is an experience to never forget. The city provides a safe and pleasant atmosphere, perfect to ride your bicycle and enjoy all the city corners.

Would you reccommend prospective students to come study here and why?

Also, IHE staff is very friendly and helpful trying to do their best to integrate the students into this new reality.
