从2010年1月1日开始，联合国停止在秘书处内分发各种会议文件以及《联合国日刊》的印刷本。所有文件都将以电子化形式传送，并保存在联合国网站正式文件系统上。此举无疑可以节约大量的纸张：以2009年11月为例，光是《联合国日刊》的印刷就使用了7吨的纸张。
