The China National Silk Museum will organize the World of the Silk Symposium on next 23 and 24 September in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China. This Symposium will bring together focal points and experts from Asia, Europe and other continents to discuss the silk traditions of different regions as well as the functions, technologies and artistic features of their silk products.

In its 2015 edition, the symposium of "Silks from the Silk Road: Origin, Transmission and Exchange" discussed silk textile productions of twenty-two countries. The 2016 Symposium is organized by the China National Silk Museum, in collaboration with other member institutions of the International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT). This year, the IASSRT will organize its 1st meeting in parallel with this Symposium in Hangzhou as well.

The Symposium will be organized in margins of the “World of Silk: International Silk Art Exhibition” that will be held from September 5th to December 5th 2016 in the occasion of the reopening of the China National Silk Museum. Textiles and objects loaned from museums from Russia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico and Italy will be exhibited during this exhibition.
