The UIS launched its 2012 Survey on Research and Experimental Development (R&D) Statistics for the reference years 2007-2011 on 4 June 2012.
The questionnaire collects the most recent statistics on human resources and expenditure devoted to scientific research and experimental development.
Officials responsible for reporting R&D data to the UIS are invited to download and complete the questionnaire from the electronic questionnaire site, and to consult the Instruction Manual for Completing the Questionnaire on R&D Statistics.
Researchers and the general public are invited to consult the static version of the questionnaire.
These data will be used to produce internationally comparable statistics to inform national and international policy in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), and will be published in a range of international reports including the UNESCO Science Report, the UN Statistical Yearbook and the World Bank’s World Development Report.
The data will also be used to update UNESCO’s international database which can be accessed online at the UIS Data Centre , the UN data portal and the World Bank’s World Development Indicators databank.
