The UIS has launched its latest data collection on feature film statistics for reference years 2012 and 2013
The biennial survey on feature film statistics collects the most recent data on selected areas of the film industry. These data are used for monitoring global trends in the industry, such as the number and type of films produced each year, and how they are consumed nationally and internationally. Given the importance of cinema as a form of cultural expression, these data also contribute to the monitoring of issues related to cultural diversity.
The results of the survey will be released in 2015, and will be available for consultation in the UIS Data Center. The data collected will also be published in a range of international publications such as the UN Statistical Yearbook and the Global Innovation Index as a creativity factor, and in analytical reports by the UIS.
Around two hundred Member States and Territories are expected to participate.
