A YouthMobile Summer School on mobile applications development started 4 July 2016 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Organized by the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, in cooperation with Kloop Media Public Foundation (Kyrgyzstan) and Shakhmardan Yessenov Science and Education Foundation (Kazakhstan), the 10-days course will introduce young Kyrgyz women and men to Mobile Apps development.

Selected from more than 270 applicants, 10 young students will receive training on basics programming skills, on using self-taught development courses online and on conceiving and creating mobile applications targeted toward real users.

The course, which will take place from 4 to 15 July 2016 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, is based on openly accessible youth-oriented materials developed by the Kloop Media Foundation. The participants were selected through an open call for applications.

This YouthMobile Summer School workshop contributes to the employment of youth, as programming skills would enhance their ability to make well-based choice and enable them to gain access to the labour markets.

Since 2014, the UNESCO YouthMobile initiative has targeted young girls and boys to acquire basic technical skills and the necessary competencies for the development, promotion and marketing of mobile applications that address local sustainability issues.

The initiative’s overall objective is to allow young people to develop the skills of the 21st century to fully participate in addressing the challenges of sustainable development in their communities. The initiative aims at, through projects in more than 18 countries, introducing young people to entrepreneurship and creating viable employment opportunities in the mobile phone industry and the ICT Sector.

A second ten-day course will be held on 18 - 29 July 2016 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
