What made you decide to study this particular programme?
In South Africa (SA) water and sanitation services are basic human rights, and SA is a water stressed country. This forces us to look at new approaches to deliver on the basic water services (including sanitation) and the SE specialization responds to that need.

Can you say something about studying in Delft/the Netherlands? (Cultural and social experiences)
IHE do not only present an enabling learning environment; but also a socio-cultural platform where diverse people unite and subsequently globalizing our citizenship (international networking).

What kind of professional background do you need to succeed in this programme?
Students will need experience in water/wastewater treatment operations or process design, understanding of the interface between different uses of water, the environment and importance of its sustainability both on a local and global scale.

Why should new students/water professional choose this programme?
The SE specialization gives the participants broad and in-depth knowledge of engineering and design aspects of sanitary facilities; ranging from the basic sanitary technologies to modern hi-tech sanitary technologies. Participants also develop the skills to choose adequate sanitation facilities using different decision making tools. All of these are presented by the leading, world renowned practitioners in the field.
