The EPM specialization offers a bird's eye perspective on contemporary environmental issues and approaches to addressing them.

What made you decide to study this particular program?
After working for several years on design of water supply and sanitation infrastructure, which I enjoyed, I decided I want to broaden my horizons.

Can you say something about studying in Delft/the Netherlands? (Cultural and social experiences)
In comparison to my home country there were no major differences. I felt welcome and appreciated. I like the free spirit of the Dutch people. They appreciate discussion and exchange of ideas. The rain is a bit hard to get used to, but eventually I learned to like it in a way.

What kind of professional background do you need to succeed in this program?
I have a background in civil engineering and it served me well. Maybe determination is more important than the background.

Why should new students/water professional choose this program?
It offers a bird's eye perspective on contemporary environmental issues and approaches to addressing them.

Do you have any advice for new students?
It may sound like a cliche, but it has been the most exciting experience of my life. Imagine suddenly getting to know more than 150 individuals from all over the world. The world gets smaller and friendlier than it was before. I would urge new students to find the right balance between studying and socializing, it would be such a pity to miss the opportunity to make friends for life with someone from Vietnam, Ethiopia or Kenya.
