Bio: 
Yudhishthir Raj Isar straddles different worlds of cultural theory, experience and practice. His research, writing and public speaking take up many key issues of cultural policy across the world. After a three-decade career at UNESCO, he joined The American University of Paris in 2002 (Jean Monnet professor, 2003 -2008). He has also been a Maître de Conférence at Sciences Po, Paris. In 2011-2013 he was an ‘Eminent Research Visitor’, Institute for Culture and Society, University of Western Sydney, Australia, where he is currently an Adjunct Professor. He was the co-editor of the Cultures and Globalization Series (SAGE): Conflicts and Tensions (2007); The Cultural Economy (2009); Cultural Expression, Creativity and Innovation (2010); Heritage, Memory & Identity (2011) and Cities, Cultural Policy and Governance (2012). In 2004-2008, he was President of the European arts and culture platform Culture Action Europe. In 2012-2013, he was the principal investigator and lead writer for the UN Creative Economy Report 2013. Widening Local Development Pathways; in 2013-14 he was the Scientific Coordinator and Team Leader of the European Commission’s inquiry ‘Culture in EU External Relations’.
