Bio:
Sarah Gardner has 25 years’ experience in developing, implementing and monitoring national cultural policies. In 2001, she founded the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) which serves government arts funding agencies in 80 countries through networking, advocacy, research and capacity building (see www.ifacca.org and www.worldcp.org). She is a co-leader of the campaign to include culture in the Sustainable Development Goals, has a thorough knowledge of the 2005 Convention, and experience organising cultural policy projects on all continents. For the ten years prior to IFACCA, Ms Gardner held senior executive roles at the Australia Council for the Arts, primarily as Director of Strategy and Policy. In this role she facilitated teams developing national cultural policies and programs that enabled focused government support for a range of art forms and community interests such as cultural diversity, young people, indigenous people, international cooperation and education. She has a Master’s degree in Public Policy and regularly provides training in cultural policy. She previously worked as a consultant and project manager in the public and private sectors.
