Fight against poverty: Publication of the results of 39 research projectsA voluminous publication compiling the results of 39 research projects supported by UNESCO within the framework of Small Grants Programme on Poverty Eradication is now available online and in printed version.

This study summarizes the main recommendations of each research project conducted on various themes such as culture, tradition and marginalized communities (India, Pakistan), poverty and the rights of indigenous people (Chile, Mexico and Peru), the rights of the young population in urban peripheral areas (Panama), the impact of HIV and AIDS on the elderly poor (South Africa), the challenges of environmental protection policies, the protection of the rights of indigenous peoples (Argentina, Mexico), etc.

Launched in 2004, this research programme aims at assisting certain UNESCO Member States in the elaboration of strategies and plans of action in the fight against poverty with a human rights approach. Among its beneficiaries: Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.
