A new UIS report provides insight into some of the sources and characteristics of cultural employment statistics
As part of its efforts to develop the new global cultural employment survey, to be launched in 2015, the UIS collected information from 197 countries on sources of labour statistics, including labour force surveys, population and household censuses and other national household surveys.
The new report analyses the results of this metadata survey, providing insight into selected characteristics of potential sources of cultural employment statistics. The metadata also provides a useful source of information regarding the status of labour statistics surveys globally.
The upcoming Survey of Cultural Employment will collect internationally comparable data that will allow governments, analysts and policymakers to better analyse the role of cultural employment in national economies and the contribution of culture to economic and social development.
