Disasters and conflicts have devastating impacts on human security and development. The Asia-Pacific region is the most disaster-prone area of the world, and the region experiences disasters with the most severe impacts. In addition, the conflicts can further aggravate the challenges. Education has a vital role to play to build resilience to disasters and conflicts. However, ministries of education in Asia and Pacific countries often lack the capacity to effectively anticipate, respond to, manage and overcome crisis. This initiative was developed to enhance such capacity of education ministries of countries in East Asia and Pacific to integrate crisis risk reduction in education.
