The UIS collects data on science, technology and innovation (STI), specifically on resources devoted to research and experimental development (R&D) from about 150 countries and territories. In addition to the UIS survey on R&D statistics, which is conducted on a biennial basis, we collect data from the following three partners:
- the Network on Science and Technology Indicators – Ibero-American and Inter-American (RICYT), which provides data for about 25 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean;
- the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which provides data for about 40 Member States and associated countries;
- the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), which provides data for seven European countries.
The aim is to provide internationally comparable data, which can be used to monitor key trends in STI.
