Young Reporters for the Environment

A competition is held annually by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to encourage young people from all over the world to push themselves to their limits in the search for a story which will ultimately bring to the fore a real and current local environmental issue. Composed of three independent age categories, the competition affords the entrants the chance of winning not only prizes, but recognition too.

In Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), students participating in the National and International Competition receive diplomas. Participants of the International competition, subject to funding and sponsors, receive prizes such as laptops, video/photo cameras. Through the years, some of the International Competition awards have been YRE Missions held in other countries, and/or workshops with students from other countries.

Competition entries are published on the FEE website and/or through international media.

As the competition runs at two levels, the National and International, students are also awarded at the National level. The type of prize in this case depends on the National Operator and funding/sponsorships.
