Mr Fernando Ribeiro is the International Advisor of the National Secretariat for the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Secretary of Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic. Mr Fernando Ribeiro began his career as a teacher, having taught about the evolution of societies and civilizations both in the elementary and intermediate school as at the University. Originally a Chancellery Officer from the Brazilian Foreign Service, having joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, he is currently working as International Advisor to the Office of the National Secretariat for the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in the Secretary of Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, holding this position since 2010. In the diplomatic service he served abroad in Argentina, Indonesia, Italia and Hungary. He was member of the National Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CONADE) from 2006 to 2009, member of the National Committee for the Implementation of the Framework Convention for Tobacco Control, from 2006 to 2010 and member of Brazilian National Section of the social-labor bodies of MERCORSUR from 2007 to 2009. He acted as member of the Brazilian delegation in four of the five sessions, held by the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB), in which was negotiated WHO Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, adopted in 2012. He was member of the Brazilian delegation that attended the negotiations of WIPO Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works by Visually Impaired Persons and Persons with Print Disabilities, adopted in 2013.
