In early December 2005 a blaze destroyed the premises of the National Radio Television of Afghanistan (NRTA) in Badakhshan. In December 2005 the CI programme advisor sent CI Consultant Daoud Wahab and Programme Assistant (IT) Sayed Habibullah to assess the damage and also find out why the fire had been started. The BBC World Service and the Indian Embassy have both agreed to support the reconstruction of the Badakhshan studio but UNESCO has not yet done anything as we are waiting for a signal from NRTA.
