Until 14 September, the Municipality of Kaunas, in cooperation with Malcolm Reading Consultants, call for designers from all around the world to send their projects and concepts to the Science Island Design Contest. This anonymous and single-staged competition consists in preselecting the three most innovative projects, of which one will be developed within the National Science and Innovation Centre to be established by 2018 in the Nemunas Island. The City has invested with €25 million to turn this island into a major research and cultural hub.
From 3 to 6 November, Hamamatsu will be hosting the 2016 edition of the World Music Festival, organized in cooperation with 12 other Creative Cities of Music: Adelaide, Bologna, Brazzaville, Ghent, Hanover, Idanha-a-Nova, Katowice, Kingston, Liverpool, Mannheim, Salvador, Seville, and Tongyeong. This unique music festival opens its line-up to the world’s musical genres and instruments from diverse cultures, so as to promote cultural diversity and the limitless potential of music to nurture social cohesion and intercultural dialogue.
This year’s DLD Tel Aviv Innovation Festival will be held from 25 to 29 September and will offer a five-day series of events focused on digital culture, creativity and urban innovation ranging from meet-ups, conferences and panels to outdoor public happenings.  
The “Osip Mandelstam: Word and Destiny” book is the fruit of the very first collaboration between the Creative Cities of Literature of Heidelberg and Granada, in cooperation with the State Literary Museum of Moscow. This joint-project has been initiated in the framework of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam, who was one of the foremost members of the Acmeist school of poets. The book is available in a bilingual version, in German and Spanish.

Taking place every beginning of July, the Tsuruoka Festival, also known as the Tsuruoka Japanese Sake Festival, offers for a day-long special event a unique opportunity to taste a wide array of traditional gastronomic delights from Tsuruoka, including various types of rice wine sake, being a genuine local specialty.
Until 31 August, Torino Creative City of Design, led by the organization Torino Design, opens its call for projects for the Automotive Talent Award. While celebrating its 10th anniversary, Torino Design takes the occasion to promote and reward the most innovative projects of young designers, up to the age of 25, highlighting the interaction between human beings and cars.
Until 30 July, Graz Creative City of Design opens its call for projects to students worldwide for the first User Experience (UX) World Championship, to be held in the framework of the World Usability Congress 2016.   
From 18 to 20 of July, Saint-Étienne will invite the designer Kanako Yamauchi from Kobe to carry-out a design workshop called the “Hybridisation of cultures” for children from 8 to 11 years old at the Espace Boris Vian of Saint-Étienne in cooperation with Kaksi Design.
