Östersund, host city of the UCCN 10th Annual Meeting (14-16 September 2016)
From 14 to 16 September 2016, Östersund, designated in 2010 as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, in the Region of Jämtland Härjedalen, Sweden, will welcome the UCCN members to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network 10th Annual Meeting.
The Annual Meeting in Östersund will be a key platform dialogue between the Creative Cities and UNESCO, covering UCCN strategic objectives and operations and exchange of information from Member Cities.
More specifically, the main objectives of the Annual Meeting are to:
- Exchange updated information on activities carried out by cities intended to implement the objectives of the Network both at the local and international level and formulate new inter-city partnership initiatives;
- Determine the Network’s strategy and operations, and agree upon important matters related to future developments, including the priorities of the Network for the coming year;
- Offer a key platform of dialogue between the Creative Cities and UNESCO, regarding the Organization’s priorities on culture and development and other issues of mutual interests.
The Meeting in Östersund will also be associated with a cultural program including regional artists, creators and entrepreneurs in the fields of creativity and gastronomy.
Prior to the UCCN 10th Annual Meeting, Mid Sweden University in Östersund will organize a conference on 12-14 September 2016: “Valuing and Evaluating Creativity for Sustainable Regional Development”, designed to support research and evaluation needs of the UCCN.
