Throughout the world, the food industry is a dynamic sector, providing social and economic benefits. However, despite its importance, many countries are facing culinary skills shortage. Youth4Food is the abbreviation for the ‘Youth in action for a creative and sustainable gastronomy’ initiative.
The X UCCN Annual Meeting took place in Östersund, Sweden, from 14 to 16 September 2016. This event gathered over 250 participants, including 22 mayors, representing nearly 100 Creative Cities. This was the largest meeting in the Network’s history, which is now, as one knows, made up of 116 cities from 54 countries worldwide.  For the occasion, Alice Bah Kuhnke, Sweden’s Minister for Culture and Democracy, has defined the Network as follows:
The host city of the forthcoming UCCN Annual Meeting, Östersund, will be celebrating the season of spring with its 2016 edition of Jamtli Spring Fair. The annual event will be showcasing traditional products, crafts and plants proposed by local artisans, as well as various activities, such as performances by musicians.  This year’s edition of Jamtli Spring Fair will take place on 21 and 22 May under the theme of recycling, and will provide some tips and practical advices to visitors.
From 14 to 16 September 2016, Östersund, designated in 2010 as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, in the Region of Jämtland Härjedalen, Sweden, will welcome the UCCN members to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network Xth Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting in Östersund will be a key platform dialogue between the Creative Cities and UNESCO, covering UCCN strategic objectives and operations and exchange of information from Member Cities.
Jamtli Christmas Fair in Östersund is one of Europe's most charming Christmas Fairs, which will take place on the week-end of the 4th to 6th December, 2015. It is something of a must for young and old alike. The historical buildings at Jamtli (open air museum) create a wonderful setting together with darkness, fire and snow.
