In Memoriam -
In remembrance of those members of the UN Family who lost their lives
in the earthquake in Haiti, 12 January 2010

Ms. Gerthy Germain, 1976 - 2010

Cleaner (Haiti)

Gerthy Germain

Gerthy Germain, a national of Haiti, was a cleaner for the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) since 2006.

Her colleagues described her as “a friendly coworker who loved having fun” and as someone who was fascinated by and enjoyed going to the cinema.

She was known for her jovial character. “She was always laughing,” a colleague said.

At her workplace, colleagues appreciated Gerthy for her professionalism and her respectful attitude.

“She was a humble person who loved to pray,” a close friend said.

Gerthy’s three children and her fiancé also were killed in the earthquake. She is survived by an aunt.
