Intergovernmental Actions in the Follow-up to the International Conference on Financing for Development
The Monterrey Consensus established an intergovernmental follow-up process in both the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council.
General Assembly
Every two years, the General Assembly hosts a two-day High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development and every year in the fall the Second Committee of the General Assembly considers various FfD-Related Issues on its agenda.
ECOSOC
Every year in the spring, ECOSOC holds a special high-level meeting with the leadership of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization and UNCTAD on the follow-up to the Monterrey Consensus. Every summer ECOSOC devotes up to 2 days during its substantive session to deliberation of FfD agenda item.
Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters
The Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters is the specialized United Nations tax body. The Committee will now also address the various tax policy issues identified in the Monterrey Consensus.
