“巨人之路”及其海岸

“巨人之路”位于北爱尔兰安特令平原边沿，沿着海岸坐落在玄武岩悬崖的山脚下，由大约40 000个黑色玄武岩巨型石柱组成，这些石柱一直延伸到大海。这个令人称奇的景观使人们联想出巨人跨过海峡到达苏格兰的传说。300年来，地质学家们研究其构造，了解到它是在第三纪（大约5000-6000万年前）时由活火山不断喷发而成的。这个状观景点同时大大推动了地球科学的发展。
