The Economic and Social Council, in its resolution 2002/1, created a framework for advisory group(s) on African countries emerging from conflict with a view to assessing the humanitarian and economic needs of these countries and elaborating a long-term programme of support that begins with the integration of relief into development. Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti
In July 2004, at its substantive session, the Economic and Social Council decided to reactivate the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti (resolution 2004/52 of 23 July 2004). In 1999, the Economic and Social Council, in its resolution 1999/4, had created an Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti mandated to make recommendations on how to ensure that international assistance to Haiti was adequate, coherent, well coordinated and effective.
