Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
    Aims to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the condition of rural populations. An intergovernmental organization with 183 member countries.
 
Statistical Databases
  FAOSTAT is an on-line and multilingual databases currently containing over one million time-series records covering international statistics in many areas.
 
Economic and Social Department
  Ensures the development of policies, strategies and guidelines and provides advisory and technical services to FAO Members. Collects, analyses and disseminates information in the relevant fields of competence to FAO Members.
 
Sustainable Development Department
  Global reference centre for knowledge and advice on biophysical, biological, socio-economic and social dimensions of sustainable development. Foci include agrarian transformation and institutional reform; research, extension, education and communication; and natural resource monitoring and management.
