Business for the Rule of Law is an initiative that was announced by the UN Secretary-General in September 2013. The United Nations Global Compact has been charged with leading the initiative which aims to engage the business community in efforts to support the rule of law. Business for the Rule of Law (B4ROL) will serve as a complement to business respect for the UN Global Compact Ten Principles, and will inform the UN Global Compact’s approach to business engagement on the Post 2015 Development Agenda.

The UN Global Compact is working closely with the United Nations system and a multi-stakeholder Steering Group to develop a B4ROL framework which aims to provide guidance on how businesses from around the world can take voluntary action to support the rule of law. The Framework will include the business case, actions businesses can take and examples businesses have already taken to support the rule of law.
