Partnerships

Partnerships are central to the work of the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) in its quest for the advancement of Africa’s peace, security, governance and development agenda.
Since its creation, OSAA, as the focal point for the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) at the United Nations Headquarters, has fostered innovative and strategic partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders, aimed at:
- Enhancing coherence and coordination of UN System support for NEPAD and Africa’s development in general,
- Mobilizing support and resources for NEPAD and Africa’s development frameworks,
- Promoting alignment between global development agenda and African development priorities, and
- Raising awareness on African key development issues.
To achieve these goals, OSAA has been working in partnership with UN System entities, including through the:
- Interdepartmental Task Force on African Affairs (IDTFA),
- United Nations Development Group
, - Executive Committee on Peace and Security,
- Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs, and
- Executive Committee on Humanitarian Affairs.
At the regional level, OSAA is also part of the Regional Coordination Mechanism and works in close partnership with the:
- African Union Commission,
- African Union /NEPAD Planning and Organizing Agency,
- African Peer Review Mechanism Secretariat,
- African Development Bank , and
- Africa’s Regional Economic Communities (RECs).
OSAA promotes inclusiveness in its activities and has therefore developed innovative partnerships with the civil society, the media, the private sector, the academia and research institutions in order to advocate, mobilize resources and foster ownership of Africa’s strategic development flagship programmes and agendas, such as NEPAD and the African Union's Agenda 2063.
OSAA also promotes and supports North-South, South-South and triangular cooperation between Africa and its global partners.

High-level Meeting on Women and Youth Entrepreneurship in Africa: The impact of entrepreneurial education on development (13 June 2016)
The event will analyse the development of entrepreneurship in Africa, showcase concrete examples of “impactful” women and youth entrepreneurs on the continent, and encourage the exchange of ideas on how enterprises with a strong social foundations can accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
