Science and technology hold the key to solving many of the challenges faced by the modern world. To be able to grasp this concept, populations must be able to recognize and identify the importance of these two fields among the mass of information derived from modern rational knowledge. In delivering this message, scientific media and scientific journalists play an essential role. Scientific journalism contributes to a better understanding of the vast domain of science. It also contributes to the advancement of the latter since it presents scientific findings to the public, evaluates and assesses them, and submits them for the examination and approval of the community which finances the scientific work, or for which the work is intended. Very few journalists however currently specialize in scientific journalism. Additionally, scientific journalism requires a solid foundation in scientific knowledge and attitudes. It also demands that practitioners permanently update their knowledge and their approaches, therefore highlighting the importance and need for ongoing training.
 
This project will address the issue by training 25 journalists from the Central African region, and publishing a written guide aimed specifically at scientific journalists, with a view to improving the quality and increasing the number of scientific reports published in the countries of the region.
