- A school teacher in Rwanda
Rwanda joined UNESCO on November 7, 1962. The country is covered by the Organization's office in Nairobi, Kenya.
In Rwanda there are around 20 schools that are part of the Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet). One of the priorities of the country is strengthening its educational capacities. Two projects are currently under way: one is aimed at secondary school teachers and the other deals with the training of teachers at university level.
Rwanda is one of the eight countries which have volunteered to participate in the “One UN” pilot initiative. This will test how the UN family – with its many and diverse agencies - can deliver in a more coordinated way at country level.
