Education for the 21st Century
The Education for the 21st Century Programme in the Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean promotes the fundamental right to education, access to quality education for all, and life-long learning. The Office provides policy advice and support, capacity development, standard setting instruments and dissemination of good practices through existing sub-regional networks.
The main priorities of the Education for the 21st Century Programme Are:
- Education for All (EFA)
- Educational Planning
- Technical, vocational education and training
- HIV prevention
- Early childhood care and education
- Information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education
- Higher education
- Inclusive education
- Climate change education, disaster risk reduction and mitigation
The main programme thrusts in education are underpinned by efforts to improve quality of education at all levels, promote good practices through knowledge networks and to better respond to the educational challenges facing Caribbean countries.
The Education for the 21st Centry Programme works closely with the National Commissions for UNESCO, Ministries of Education, tertiary institutions, regional educational institutions, UN agencies, non-governmental bodies, bi-lateral and donor institutions to advance education initiatives in the Caribbean
