Illicit Traffic and Restitution

UNESCO Office in Doha works to support the Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property in accordance with the Convention for the fight of illicit trafficking of cultural property. The GCC countries have accepted the Convention.

 

The UNESCO Office in Doha has undertaken several activities for Combating illicit trafficking in the Arab region, such as established cooperation with authorities, project proposals with specific country- focus etc. UNESCO Doha will organize a Illicit trafficking workshop in January 2013 in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Oman.
