2011 Holocaust Remembrance Day
In observance of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, the Holocaust Programme has produced a number of educational materials to support the activities that took place on the week of 24 January 2011 at United Nations Headquarters and in the UN Information Centres around the world :
- Travelling Exhibit for UNICs- The Holocaust in Europe
The Mémorial de la Shoah (Paris, France) in cooperation with the UN’s Holocaust Programme, has produced a travelling exhibition on the Holocaust in Europe, which is available in English, French, Spanish and Russian. UNICs Bujumbura, Dakar, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow and UNIS Vienna host it. - Discussion Paper
The Holocaust Programme has published a new discussion paper for university students titled The Global Prevention of Genocide: Learning from the Holocaust. Drafted by experts at the Salzburg Global Seminar, the paper explores the links between the fields of Holocaust education, genocide prevention and human rights. - Study Guide and DVD- Women and the Holocaust: “Courage and Compassion
The Holocaust Programme, in partnership with the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education and Yad Vashem, The Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority, has produced an educational study guide and DVD for high school students. This pedagogical tool features the testimony of six survivors and highlights ways in which women experienced the Holocaust differently.
