In the framework of the programme on Strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for Responsive and Accountable Governance in Rwanda, jointly implemented by UNDP and RGB, a call for project and research proposals was launched in April 2019.
On Tuesday 21 May 2019, the Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with ONE UN Rwanda convened at Marriott Hotel, Kigali, for a high- level consultative meeting with development partners on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Rwanda – Prior to the launch of the highly anticipated final season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, actor and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassador, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, visited Rwanda. On Tuesday, February 12, 2019 UNDP launched a photo exhibition entitled “Empowered Lives” at the University of Rwanda School of Architecture. There is no single understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The meaning, implication and reality of these terms can change throughout different languages, cultures, and time periods.
This Strategy is a product of UNDP Rwanda’s stance on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through collaboration with government, national actors, local and foreign entities, and others, our Country Office (CO) continues to work toward the goals relevant to Rwandan women and men.

Promoting Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in programmes and projects is a priority for UNDP in Rwanda. Equally important, UNDP Rwanda strives to ensure gender parity, empowerment, and equal opportunities for all its staff, women and men. This applies to all areas of our office.
What we do
Rwanda is among eight pilot countries selected in January 2007 to implement the One UN Reform , which enables the UN System to provide a more effective and coherent response to the needs of the Government of Rwanda and its Development Partners. As part of the UN Country Team, UNDP works with other sister agencies to implement the “One UN – Delivering as One” process. UNDP-Rwanda’s programmes and activities respond to the challenges facing the country to achieve its own short and long term goals.
