UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination

The United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) is the main instrument for executive heads of the United Nations system to coordinate their actions and policies.

The CEB is chaired by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and meets twice annually. It is composed of the Executive Heads of the member organizations and is assisted by two high level committees:

• The High Level Committee on Programmes (HLCP) advises CEB on policy, programme and operational matters of system-wide importance and to foster inter-agency cooperation and coordination on these matters on behalf of CEB.



• The High Level Committee on Management (HLCM) advises CEB on administration and management issues (particularly regarding finances and budget, human resources, staff security and information and communication technology) that are of system-wide importance and to promote inter-agency cooperation and coordination on these matters on behalf of CEB.

In the framework of CEB, UNESCO participates fully in the discussions and consultations aimed at joint actions in the fields of common interest such as policy issues relating to administration and personnel questions, the division of labour within the system and access to resources, follow-up to major United Nations conferences, the status of women in the secretariats of the United Nations system, the UN reform and other major political issues in the world and their implications for the work of the United Nations system.
