The role of UNESCO through its domains of competence is to help developing countries particularly least developed and post-conflict countries to enhance their technical capacities, including poverty eradication and the provision of safe drinking water.
Technical capacity building in basic and applied sciences, engineering and technology is a critical aspect of reducing poverty and establishing sustainable economic and social infrastructure.
In line with the decisions of Executive Board particularly at the 171 and 174 session, the Bureau of Strategic Planning provides specific capacity building and training for UNESCO staff.
