The aim of this project is to target Jordanian youth and provide them with knowledge and training on Media and Information Literacy (MIL). MIL is one of the essential capacities that enable people to interpret and make informed judgments as users of information and media, as well as to become skillful creators and producers of information and media messages in their own right. One of the main aims of promoting MIL is that in today’s digital age where there is an overwhelming amount of information available, UNESCO believes an individual must possess the necessary ability to use, understand, inquire, create, communicate and think critically of media and information. In addition, the capacity to effectively access, organize, analyze, evaluate, and create messages in a variety of forms through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) plays an integral part of MIL. According to Alton Grizzle, it is important that MIL is "[…] seen as vital to the empowerment of people and an important prerequisite for harnessing ICTs for education and fostering equitable access to information and knowledge."

A pilot project that introduced MIL and related techniques in extra curriculum classes to 40 high-school students, male and female, was finalized during the summer 2013. Through its recommendations, UNESCO Amman seeks further funding to integrate MIL into the regular curriculum of Jordanian schools in order for students to acquire needed skills to understand and use media for self-expression.
