   Contributes to the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean. Coordinates actions directed towards this end. Reinforces economic relationships among the countries and with the other nations of the world. One of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. Headquartered in Santiago, Chile. Established by the Economic and Social Council in 1948.
 
Latin and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE)
  Meetings, computer software (Redatam), Demographic Bulletins containing population data and analysis, news of training workshops.

  Overview of research in all areas, including population, labour market, poverty, education and training, health, housing, social security, gender and environment.
