Award Ceremony of the 2015 UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development

Within the framework of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD honours outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions, organizations or other entities engaged in ESD activities. Funded by the Government of Japan, the Prize consists of three annual awards of US $50,000 for each recipient. The Prize is awarded for the first time in 2015.
The Prize was established by the Executive Board of UNESCO at its 195th session, and officially announced at the UNESCO World Conference on ESD (10-12 November 2014, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan).
The Prize is awarded for the first time in 2015 to the following organizations:
- Asociación SERES (Guatemala/El Salvador)
- Centre for Development of Early Childhood, Non-Formal and Informal Education (Indonesia)
- RootAbility (Germany)
During the Award Ceremony, the laureates will receive a certificate and a cheque. The Ceremony will be followed by a reception hosted by the Government of Japan.
