Fields / Disciplines Transcultural studies, interreligious dialogue and peace Objectives The purpose of the Chair shall be to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation in the field of transcultural studies, interreligious dialogue and peace. It will serve as a means of facilitating collaboration between high-level, internationally recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in the United States of America and elsewhere in Europe and North America, and in other regions of the world. The long-term objective of this Chair is to integrate the United States of America and the region of the Pacific Northwest – both inside and outside of the academy – within the broader world community and specifically within the context of transcultural studies, interreligious dialogue, and peace studies. In the short-term, the Chair will strengthen existing partnerships with colleagues around the world and in 2007-2008 it is planned that the University will establish a Center for Transcultural Studies, Interreligious Dialogue, and Peace at the University of Oregon, where the Chair would reside.
