UNESCO/UNITWIN Chairs

UNITWIN is the abbreviation for the university twinning and networking scheme. The UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme consists of the establishment of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks in higher education institutions. This UNESCO programme is a prime means of building the capacity of higher education and research institutions through the exchange of knowledge, in a spirit of international solidarity. It promotes North-South, South-South and triangular cooperation to develop institutions.

Over 250 of the university Chairs in the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chairs programme are in natural sciences.
