Make a Sea Change Today

The Sea Change Project launch this campaign as part of the the celebration of the Ocean Day 2016. Take one deep breath! In . . . and out! Now take another breath and stop for a moment to consider something that most people don’t know; Half of the oxygen in the atmosphere is generated by microscopic plants in the world’s oceans – enough for every second breath that we take.
The ocean makes life on Earth possible. It provides us with oxygen, it regulates our climate and produces over 140 million tons of food each year. So, if we don’t take care of the ocean, we endanger our own survival.

Yet, this vital lifeline on which we all depend is in trouble. Over the years, human activity and our way of life has drastically undermined the essential function of the ocean. Our burning of fossil fuels has created carbon dioxide which has increased the acidity of the ocean. Our carelessness has polluted the ocean with plastic debris, and our inconsideration has led to overfishing and even the collapse of fish stocks in many oceans of the world. But there is still time to alleviate these pressures! Given the opportunity, nature has an amazing ability to bounce back.

The good news is that, even by making a small change in what you do every day can achieve big results in helping to protect the ocean.
